Strategic appointment at Work and Play Scrapstore
Exciting news - we have a new Chair of Trustees, Ravi Ruparel. He says: “It’s a privilege to be part of a wonderful charity with such an admirable ethos, fantastic volunteer support and the potential of such an exciting future. Our finances are in a good state with the charity’s opportunity to continue to be an important part of the local community stronger than ever.”
Ravi is a life-long local resident, a chartered accountant by profession with board experience in media, marketing, games and finance sectors plus five years charity trustee experience of a local school.
He will lead the board of trustees and take the charity forward with a plan to diversify its income. Scrapstore is already climbing back to its pre-pandemic levels of operation, with either improved or equalled performance on many measures for the financial year ending March 2022, namely with the same number of visits to the store, number of memberships, tonnage of waste diverted from landfill and incineration and in the estimated value of materials taken by members from Scrapstore.
“We’re in a good place so we can build on that strength with an agreed strategy and vision,” said Ravi. One immediate area of change will be in the increased use of technology and automation across the organisation to help streamline systems and processes.
Ravi succeeds Patrick Moon, who successfully steered Scrapstore over the last four years.
