Did You Listen During Chelsea Arts Fringe?

'Are you Listening'- a walk by artist Billie Penfold, part of the Chelsea Fringe 2019.
In preparation for the walk Billie visited us at The Work and Play Scrapstore in March, to collaborate with the volunteers in making flags that would then become part of the processional walk. On Sunday I took part along with the finished flags. Starting at the Pump House Gallery and ending at the monumental Peace Pagoda.
The idea of the walk was for us to consider our relationship with the environment. We did this through listening and interpreting the sounds around us in drawings, poetry readings and meditative knotting of ropes, while Artist Composer Lucy Clair was recording the event to create a soundscape. Extraordinarily in amongst the busy park life there was a moment of mindfulness.
